I can't get my new samsung DVD recorder/vcr to record anything on vcr tape or dvd-Rw disks. Please help? - samsung dvd recorder & vcr best copier

He reads the tapes and DVDs fine, but put in a blank record or tryto and will not work. I have connected my TV to Dish Network, but I recorder. How do I connect the TV to the antenna through the recorder?
